Kishi no Yanagi
- Willow on the Bank -

This short piece was originally performed as a pure concert piece and evokes Geisha and scenes along the Sumida River. In the Edo period, the river was center of life in the city and boat was perfect for a romantic tryst. The dance has been choreographed many times, often as a Su-Odori with the dancer in a simple, foemal kimono.
