The Japanese dance is a traditional art in Japan. It was begun by Okuni of Izumo in 1603. In Japanese traditional art, there are the Kabuki, the Japanese dance, the Noh and the Noh farce etc. And the Japanese dance includes not only classical dance, but also the Kabuki dance, the Kamigata dance and the Shin Buyo dance <new dance>.

In the early 17th century, it was 3 or 4 schools, but there is hundreds of schools now. Bandoh, Fujima and Nishikawa are traditional schools since the early 17th century.
